This list assumes you have some basic sewing supplies on hand, including:
Anything marked as special materials should be relatively inexpensive, such as picking up a tatting shuttle or some beads.
They’re still marked as special, that way you can filter those out if you don’t want to be buying any new materials right now. But if you do textile art regularly you may also want to check if you happen to have those materials on hand (listed below). I definitely recommend you work from your stash whenever possible!
Some might not be marked as special materials even though they typically require a special tool or a different type of thread.
If I can find DIY alternatives out of household items, such as making a kumihimo disk out of cardboard or doing bobbin lace with clothespins.
If the craft also offers various techniques using more common items, such as doing string art on cardstock rather than using a wooden board and nails.
If the craft is still doable with embroidery floss even if traditionally done with a different thread, such as Sashiko or Hardanger.
That way you can at least try it out and decide if you want to get the ‘real’ tools later!
